Among a large number of scientists, research scholars and students the formal inauguration of the Kolkata Chapter was done in September, 2006 in the 'Alzheimer's Day' at the Seminar Hall of IICB. After a formal inaugural lecture by Prof. Debjani Guha to say something about the Chapter an eminent scientist Prof. J.J. Ghosh delivered his lecture on "Therapeutic Strategies for Neurodegenerative Diseases with Special Reference to Alzheimer's Disease" and a renounced clinician Dr. Shyamal Das spoke on "Dementia - a 21st Century Challenge". The meeting ended with great pleasure and high hopes for future meetings. The first seminar meeting was held in December 2006 at Manovikas Kendra, Kolkata. It was a platform for Ph.D. students to deliver their work. There was overwhelming response. However, we chose six scholars who represented their papers and others were kept for future seminars which will be held after 2-3 months. The meeting was attended by a large number of scientists, scholars and students and it was a grand success. | ||||||||
